When I am dead

An old composition. I understand people don't talk death in their 20's. Mind you I too have no premotion regarding mine. I often wonder if someone -- with flirtatious eyes -- will ever pass my resting place with a flower in hand. I'll love those impassioned moments.

One often wonders how short our life-spans are! We are born once. We die once. We truly love once. Anything else is only habit, settlement, companionship.

In reality we never die. We continue to live in memories. In old hopes. Alongside ancient thoughts. In hearts. In friends who care. In the laughter of children. Old walls. Like cute rodents scurrying across a roof.

I think some people may miss me when I am no more. If you miss me, I'll sure compliment it with a smile from the sky. I wrote this poem -- many aeons back-- but I mean it.

When I am dead, my dearest
dig no crosses for me

When the gusts go strong, my dearest
breathe no gasps for me
As my echoes wear off
say no praises for me

When I am visible no more
drop no tears for me
When the lights go out, my dearest
lit no candles for me
As my thoughts fade away
hold no hands for me
When the spring breaks again, my dearest
Watch me in the cowslips
by my grave
I'll be there for you

Samy

This poem is plagairised from Christina Georgina Rossetti's poem.

Sameer,

I think you are too young to talk death but I am impressed with your command over both both forms of English -- Prose/poetry.

Dear Anonymous:

I understand Christina Georgina Rossetti more than you do. I just liked the title of her poem..
'When I Am Dead, My Dearest'

To add to your limited knowledge, here is Rossetti's poem:

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Cheers

Sam

I like it when u hit back. Hit hard and hit real fast.

I think you are entitled to use any titles. Don't film titles get repeated. We have two Dons. Now two sholays. So liking a titile is 100% genuine. I think if you type LOve and Poem in Google, a 1000 poems -- from Shakespeare to Elvis -- will come.

Love your distinct style man.

Guys,

This chap deserves all the kudos and kickbacks. He writes so well. And there are lots of people who leave tasteless comments on internet. I think sam, understands, by now that it is all part of the game and nothing but fun.

That is a beautiful poem by Sam.
having read both your and Rosseti's poem, I think you are more direct while she is more lucid in what she wants to say. And while your theme is directed at many, she seems focussed on Haply.

There must be no comparisons. Both styles are distinct and reflect two different personalities. To put things in context, Rosetti was strongly associated with the Anglo-Catholic movement in the late 1800's that was part of the Church of England, and this religious devotion played a major role in Rossetti's personal life.
Our chap sam is a working professional -- journalist -- in the 21st century. All of 24-25 and manages a very decent blog.

Dear Anonymous,

I do not get it what you have against Sam here. But on the other hand, there has to be something in this guy and what he writes, that makes you keep coming back to his blog...

AND, if you do not like what he writes, the answer is simple, 'KEEP OFF HIS BLOG'

And, for you Sam darlin', these comments only tell you the tale of your success, when people start getting jealous, thats when you know you are good!

keep up the good work!

Love
